Are we that gullible?
This one has been in my head for a while, and I am not even sure the advertisement is on the TV/Radio anymore, but it recently came back and annoyed me.
It's for Sleep Doctor. The commercial is annoying for many reasons, but I find the most annoying part is the guarantee.
We'll beat any advertised price, or it's FREE!
That's right. At Sleep Doctor Mattress,
all we ask is that you bring in your quote and we will beat it.
This commercial has the annoying actor saying that first phrase.
And, I am gonna tell you that this chain has NEVER given a mattress away for free.
Anyone with a moderate knowledge of sales and 2nd grade math understands why, but my question is why does this company think I am stupid?
Alright, here is a simple example to prove the point: A customer walks in with an awesome deal that this Sleep Doctor must beat. For this example, the mattress retails at $500. The customer has a quote for this mattress at another store for $1. The Sleep Doctor can't beat that deal, but are they giving away a mattress?
Of course not, they will sell it for $0.99, and beat the deal.
Does anybody actually go to this place, and expect that they will walk away with a free mattress?
NOT gonna happen.
