Recycler

A couple days ago I deleted a file on my work desktop, and the 'deleting file' box stayed on screen for about 10 seconds.

Rewind...............
A long time ago, after deleting a file and proceeding to empty the recycle bin immediately after, I realized that I wanted the file back.  I have always been rather 'anal' about emptying the recycle bin, so if I see that it is full, I always immediately empty it.  So, all the back in July 2004 I decided to move the recycle bin from its usual location (bottom right - Old Mac habit) to the second monitor on the bottom right.  The idea was to keep myself from habitually emptying the recycle bin.  IT WORKED!

Fast forward.....................
So, after getting frustrated with the slow response to deleting a file, I decided it was time to let some files go.
First I browsed around a little to see what I was working on a couple years ago, it was a kind of fun only a true computer nerd can appreciate.  Kinda like a journal entry of things that weren't important enough to keep...
Anyways, I had files that were deleted in July 2004, and over 3 GB of space taken by these files.

I must say that I don't think I have ever needed to restore a file since implementing this strict 'no empty' policy, but I am sure if I hadn't implemented it I would have needed to several times.  In order to not mess up a good thing, I decided to only delete the stuff that was older than a year, and that seemed to speed up the delete process a little, which was the initial frustration.
