What about me?
So, I have seen some really cool blogs lately that have a more personal about me section, so I thought I have to get past the old what do I like/hate.
First, a warning, I am not so great with wording this stuff, so I am trying some "freestyle" writing.
I am a Husband to an awesome wife, and father to an eighteen month old daughter, and a 2 month old daughter.
I love having two girls, since I grew up with four sisters, and no brothers. I think I may be more comfortable with raising girls because of this. I have such great parents that seems to make the parenting thing seem so easy, and yet puts some pressure on me to continue the greatness, and I don't know how that will turn out. I am excited to see what the future holds for me and my family.
I am a Christian, and have been all my life. I like to research creationism, and although I am no expert, I feel like I have enough knowledge to be dangerous. I go to a 'smallish' church that I have gone to my whole life. I enjoy a small church because I know the people, and they know me. I volunteer several times a month to do the PowerPoint slideshow for the services. I also help lead the middle school youth group with my wife.
I am also an engineer. Engineering seems to be a profession that brings a lot of thoughts into people's minds. Some hate all engineers, but most just envision a complete nerd. I am a self-proclaimed geek, but would rate myself a 7 on the 10 point scale of geekiness. The web has made so many geekier people visible to me, so I can feel pretty normal.
Maybe related to the engineering, but I feel I have to mention I can be quite cynical, although I prefer to call it a healthy skepticism.
I don't really have many friends. The few people I would call friends are mostly family. My best man was my brother-in-law, and my wife's matron-of-honor was my sister. I am not sure why I don't have friends, nor how one goes about finding new ones in your 20's. I tend to think people that would be great friends are not likely to get out, like me.
I consider myself 'cheap', or frugal. I don't typically buy soft drinks at restaurants since the extra dollar adds up. I don't really like water much, but can't bring myself to pay that much money for a drink. I hate watering my lawn, but I hate the dead lawn more. I try to find a middle ground, but haven't been real successful with that, yet. Of course, being a geek, I have some serious conflicts with buying gadgets, and being cheap. I guess I don't fit the mold too much there...
I work full time during the days. I am a DJ on the weekends, and my wife is a photographer, and stay-at-home mom. I have owned my own business since my junior year in high school. I really love music, and will listen to about anything played. Last year I filled out 3 'Schedule C's for our family. I have had a job since I was 12, and haven't taken a summer/spring break off since then. I tend to work too much, if allowed to, and yet feel lazy for letting the home-owner chores go too long.
I consider myself politically conservative, and consider the primary factor in my voting to be the Right to Life. At times I lean towards libertarian, but live in the real world, where I understand that all people are imperfect, and government is needed to protect us from ourselves, even specifically the libertarians.
Well, that is all I got for now, and besides this is already too much... You likely know more than anyone should about me, now.
